Setup
All Google integrations use OAuth for authentication:
- Add the integration to your collection
- Click Connect with Google
- Sign in and authorize Ballast
- Configure what to sync
Google Drive
Index files from your Google Drive:
- My Drive - Personal files (connect as personal source)
- Shared Drives - Team drives (connect as shared source)
- Shared with Me - Files others have shared

Gmail
Index emails for search:
- Connect as a personal source - only you can search your emails
- Filter by label (Inbox, Sent, custom labels)
- Includes attachments (text extraction)
Privacy
Gmail is always a personal source. Your emails are encrypted with your user key and invisible to other users and admins.
Google Docs
Index the full text of Google Docs:
- Extracts all text content
- Preserves document structure
- Includes comments
Google Sheets
Index spreadsheet data:
- Each sheet becomes a searchable entity
- Headers are preserved as metadata
- Works well with federated search for live queries
Google Calendar
Index calendar events:
- Event titles and descriptions
- Attendee lists
- Location information
- Recurring events
